报告简介:
We present a fully ab initio theory for laser-induced ultrafast spin manipulation on homonuclear two- and three-magnetic-center clusters or complex.
For the recently synthesized and characterized compound [NiII2(L-N4Me2)(emb)], a local ultrafast spin-flip scenario induced by high-energy laser pulses with the participation of charge-transfer states is predicted. By calculating the oscillator strengths of the optical transitions we find good agreement of the peak positions in our theoretical ground-state absorption spectra with experiment. Additionally, we fully characterize the two transient electronic states observed spectroscopically and identify the relaxation time difference of their related charge dynamics by exploiting the selection rules.
In the pursuit of additional functionality compared to Co dimer, for the extended cluster Co3+CO with three magnetic centers we achieve a counter-clockwise cycle of spin transfer driven by three sequential laser pulses. The whole process completes within 1.2 ps, which is much faster than any conventional device. Based on this striking functionality a cyclic SHIFT register is proposed as a future application. The results on these prototypic systems pave the way to coherently manipulate and detect spin on realistic multinuclear complexes as well as demonstrate their great potential in spintronic device design and future practical applications.
